Most games use UDP for multiplayer data transmission (with mechanisms to increase reliability on required data). The fix for this is easy, just set yourself as online in Steam. Some users have reported that being offline on the friends list (either manually, or because Steam has been glitchy and disconnected you) can cause the game to not be able to create/join sessions. In the Windows Firewall advanced settings, make sure that there are no lines for FarmTogether.exe set to "Deny". If you have a Firewall installed (such as the Windows Firewall), make sure it's not blocking the game. While not that hard, this can be a bit complex if it's your first time, so please check out this guide if you need help with it: Other people has also managed to connect by opening inbound ports in the 50000-60000 UDP range. The game uses Steam API to connect and send data to other players, so please check the list of ports you need to open in order to play: While the game has many systems in place to help people join other players' farms without the need of opening ports, they aren't flawless and depending on the network setup of both users, connection may not be possible or faulty.
